Can we all agree that it doesn’t matter the industry you’re in…
… you don’t want to get into something and make just a little bit—or worse, no money.
You want to start with a winning mindset and do it every day until you make an impact, not just an income.
Erving is sharing 8 leadership tips to help you step into your power and build a real, full-time business!
You know how some people get really excited about something, and one week later they’re done?
We’ve seen this happening in network marketing. They recruit a bunch of people, promote their opportunity for about 90 days, and then, out of nowhere, you just hear them, “I think I’m going to quit. It’s just not working out for me.”
And we’re like, “Really? We never knew you started.”
It doesn’t matter the industry you’re in: you don’t want to get into something and make just a little bit—or worse, no money.
The truth is, you want to start with a winning mindset, and not get discouraged when things get rough. You need to tell yourself you’re going to do it every day until you’re successful; until you fire your boss; until you make an impact, not just an income.
Apart from the right mindset, you have to develop strong leadership skills that will get you where you want to go.
In this training, we’re sharing eight leadership tips to help you step into your power and build a real business. Let’s get to it.
Best Leadership Tips and Insights to Build a Full-time Business Income
Tip #1. Drop All Your Excuses
Leadership is not about the title. It’s about making the right decisions.
Oftentimes, especially when you get started, it’s not going to be easy. Maybe your upline quits. Perhaps you don’t even have an upline. Here’s the deal: your upline or the company you’re in won’t determine your success.
You DO.
Make sure you work on yourself, develop your leadership skills, and work on your mindset. Your biggest adversary is your limiting beliefs.
Tip #2. Attack Whatever You Lack
Successful leaders always figure out a way to win. Consider the following questions:
- What books are you reading?
- Who are your mentors?
- What skills are you developing?
Let’s say you suck at videos. Challenge yourself to do one video every day for 21 days in a row. If you suck at closing, then let me ask you how many books on closing are you currently reading? What closing course or program are you going through?
The best way to win in your business is to continuously work on yourself.
Tip #3. Build a Culture Where Everyone is Valued
Whether it’s your teammates, your upline, your sideline, or your downline, you have to create a friendly environment around your business. Run with the runners, walk with the walkers and crawl with the crawlers, but never make anyone feel bad about building slower.
Make sure you recognize people for their ATM-ing, for acquiring their first or 50th customer, for setting up group chats, for doing curiosity posts or live videos—you name it—show people your appreciation, especially to those who are brand new.
After all, people will quit on a job or business, but they won’t quit on someone who believes in them.
Tip #4. Track Your Numbers
If you’re serious about your business, you have to check your numbers. See where your business is at week to week, month to month, year to year. This is what will help you understand where the holes are and what’s holding you back from getting to that next level.
Another cool thing you can do is to monitor how many people rank advance on a month to month basis, how many new customers they get, and how many new distributors they enroll.
PRO Tip: It’s easy to be positive when your business is growing. A true leader is positive even when business is declining. If you’re in it for the long-term and you’re committed, don’t get upset when things are not moving as fast as you want them to.
Tip #5. Walk the Talk
Make your upline pay attention to you by taking action. Don’t tell them you’re ready—show them. Let them see you:
- ATM-ing;
- setting up group chats;
- engaging in the Facebook team group;
- supporting and encouraging people who are not necessarily on your team;
- dropping love and helping boost other people’s posts!
PRO Tip: If you want your business to grow, make sure you don’t go to sleep until you talk to 10 people/day about your business.
Tip #6. Simplify to Multiply
Leaders need to create an infrastructure for people to plug in and easily understand their next steps.
Simplify your operations by having clear guides and resources to help them get started. Give your people scripts and examples of what to post, how to create curiosity, and everything they need to do in order to become successful.
Tip #7. Call People on the Carpet
As a leader, you’re going to deal with people with different personalities, goals, and commitment levels.
Don’t be afraid to take a stand against those who are negative and whiny. Reach out and tell them you’ve got to talk. “Here’s the deal, [name]. You want to be successful? Stop being negative. I need you to work on your mindset. If you think you’re going to fail, then you’re right, because whatever you think about, you bring about.”
Tip #8. Teach People How to Acquire Customers
The reason why our last company was shut down is that we didn’t do enough customer acquisition. But the truth is, duplicating customer acquisition is easier than team building or recruitment. If it’s just recruiters recruiting recruiters to recruit more recruiters… then who’s getting customers?
PRO Tip: Set the customer to rep ratio at 10 to one. For every one distributor on your team, you should have an average of 10 customers.
Here’s one more thing about leadership. Brené Brown points out in her book, “The Power of Vulnerability,” that vulnerability and leadership go hand in hand. Both require us to go out of our comfort zone and take risks. Put these tips to work and you’ll be able to strengthen your leadership skills to create a full-time income and empower others to achieve financial freedom.
